Trained
as an architect, self-taught as a painter, John Ovcacik creates
timeless images that defy categorization. Between the real
and the surreal, impression and portrait, landscape and dreamscape,
his subjects are reconstructions - remembered, imagined, designed.
A
two-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation
Award for representational art, John has had his work accepted
into major juried shows, including those of the Canadian Society
of Painters in Watercolour, Arts for the Parks, and the Toronto
Outdoor Art Exhibition.
His
award-winning paintings are represented in numerous private
and corporate collections, including those of Jetform Corporation,
Merrill Lynch Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint. John currently
paints full-time in his home studio in Chelsea, Quebec, just
north of Ottawa.
